We have tried everything and our problem is on several different computers all using win 7 64 bit including the RTM version. I read about this everywhere but no one seems toВ have a working answer. It seems many people are having a problem using the 64 bit version of Windows 7 with USB drives. Here is a sampling of the system configuration: AMD Phenom II 940 X4, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB Seagate 7200.9 SATA HDD, NVIDIA nForce 780a chipset, Microsoft Natural Keyboard 4000, Logitech G5 mouse, NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX GPU, NVIDIA GigE networking, Windows 7 ењ†4 Ultimate clean installation. I am ready to supply any information needed to help troubleshoot the problem. The same hardware configuration with Vista ењ†4, Vista x86 or XP do not show these sorts of problems. I would really like to use Win7 for my daily system but these kinds of events are a bit concerning to me. I had this happen again today doing nothing more than a checkdisk operation on a flash drive. Connect an external USB HDD using either a drive enclosure or a 'disk drive toaster' dock 4. It seems that on this one system something must be odd as I have had a complete USB failure at least once a week on the box.
